Having long been a fan of the The Sartorialist website (www.thesartorialist.com), I was pleased to learn that a book was being published, featuring some of the favourite images of photographer Scott Schuman.
Scott Schuman is a professional photographer whose work features regularly in the likes of Vogue and GQ, and as well capturing images from catwalks across the world, his wonderful website captures ordinary people from the streets. If Mr Schuman thinks someone, male or female, is stylish and well-dressed, he asks if he can take their picture and publishes the results on the website. For this book, Schuman has gathered a collection of those images he feels best capture the personal style of those he notices.
Although the book does feature some famous people, such as French Vogue's Carine Roifeld, and some models fresh off the catwalk, it mainly features everyday people, of all ages, shapes and sizes who use their clothes to express their personalities, whatever their stylistic influences.
This is a great book for poring over in one sitting, or for dipping into every now and again to scan some images. I have lost a few afternoons enjoying the website, and will probably do so for this book.
To check out the treasure that is The Sartorialist, go to www.thesartorialist.com, or purchase the book, which is out now, published by Penguin. |
